Finding A Good Plumber

plumber

Have you ever had the unfortunate encounter with a bad plumber? I’m sure that everyone who owns a house or even rents a house, has had the pleasure of dealing with a bad plumber. They tell you that they can do the job yet afterwards you are stuck with a load of problems that they don’t want to fix. Or worse, they just disappear.

There are some rogue plumbers out there and you must take heed of these people otherwise you could end up with a bad job done. So how can you find a good plumber? What should you look out for or do to prevent the disappointment?

  • Do your research. It may seem like you are investigating a plumber’s history, but that is what you will have to do unless you want to just take their word for it. And these days, people don’t always stick to their word. So do your research and check their work. Go on the internet and do a search on them. Look at their website and check for references. Go to their social media pages and see if there is work that they’ve done so that you can see the quality of their work. Granted this is a one sided effort where the plumber is promoting themselves and putting their best foot forward, but this is a good place to start. A bad plumber may not even have regular pictures to showcase on their website or social media. And if there is nothing to show, then this could be a red flag.
  • Ask their customers. You can contact people who have dealt with the plumber before. Usually customers will make comments on the company’s social media page. First of all, from these comments you can get an idea of how good or bad the overall service is. You can also contact the people directly and ask them for an objective response on the service and work they received. If the overall feedback is good then you may consider using the plumber.
  • Are they accredited? Does the plumber belong to an association that certify their quality of work? If they are a member of the association, contact that association and ask them about the plumber that you’re interested in using. They should be able to give you an idea of how long they’ve been a member and how many complaints they’ve had. Hopefully, they’ve also had compliments. Although, don’t read too much into it if they don’t have any compliments because people generally tend to complain rather than compliment. It’s a strange society we live in.
  • Get a referral from building hardware stores. Many building hardware stores will have a list of plumbers or service providers that they have worked with before. These service providers will usually have a track record with the building hardware stores so have that assurance.

It can be challenging to find a good plumber but there are good ones out there. There are plumbers that take their jobs very seriously and want to provide the best work.
